Easter Evening Special 2012 Updates
We thank the Lord for a lovely evening of food, fellowship, songs and testimonies of the gospel from the Hymnsmen. The spontaneous responses of clapping and singing along was a testimony of the heartfelt songs we once sang! I believed the younger people also enjoyed themselves. It was also the first time that we ever had called for an encore and the group responded favourably with a Mandarin song! For those of you who missed the performance here are some pictures to view and if you want to hear their songs then just borrow from one of us who purchased their CDs or wait for their next performance! Thank you Hymnsmen and brother Michael for sharing the joys of the gospel and making ther Easter evening special for all of us!

Nursery Room Dedication
Last Sunday we had a simple prayer dedication for our new Nursery room. We want to start with our youngest and to prepare them for the future as they are taught and guided by the older ones. May this Nursery be the beginning of something more significant in the move by God's Spirit to revive His people to serve not only our own children but that of our community.

First Renewal of Marriage Vows Service
Last Sunday our church celebrated her first renewal of marriage vows. We had two couples - the Cheah's and Kwok's to show us the way! After an inspiring message on The Blessings of Marriage by our guest speaker, Rev. Fred David, we had a simple ceremony to renew the marriage vows. The most exciting part must have been the call for the couples to kiss! We rejoice with the two couples and pray that others may follow their example and continue to remain faithful in their marriages. Thank you all for being part of this historical moment!

A New Beginning
The first major decision to be implemented for this year is the new nursery room. We had been letting things go as it is and it has not been beneficial and fair to the parents with young children on Sundays. So after some discussion we have decided to build a nursery room. The room will be equipped accordingly and volunteers will take turns to play and teach the children during the sermon time.
We hope to be operational by February 19. Here are some pictures of how it looks now after the renovation but before the furniture arrangement and final touches. Someone has also suggested that we name the room 'Genesis'. Perhaps this is a new 'beginning' that we need to spur the church to further action. We should expect more to come! So what do you think?

Marriage Series
This Sunday (Jan 29) we will begin a series of messages on Christian marriage. The Bible tells us that marriage is God's design from the very beginning. So if we want to have a successful marriage, we must take heed of the instructions and warnings given by the Creator in His manual - the Bible. In a world filled with so many pressures, breakups and confusion over marital roles and responsibilities, a good marriage is going to be like a breath of fresh air. There will be a price to be paid for success. I believe by God's grace all our marriages can be like that from strength to strength.
I hope that during this time we would be able to examine the Bible and what it teaches us about the importance of marriage. Whether you are married or not, there will be something we can all learn, change and model. There will even be an opportunity for married couples to renew their marriage vows (on Feb 12)
Let us support and pray for each other, especially those who are married and those who will get married one day. Their success can encourage and strengthen others and bring glory to God. Don't forget to pray for the speakers. I know it will a personal challenge for me just to speak on this topic!

Seeing Clearly
You don't know what you have missed until you see things clearer. I learned this lesson yesterday when the TV men came to realign the TV aerial (yes, I am still in the pre-cable age) Wow! all the channels became a whole lot clearer! Things became so bad that (I suspect) if you had used 3-D glasses the duplicate images would have been just right! The good part is that my TV time became less.
There is a lesson here (every preacher's angle!). If our 'aerials' are not aligned rightly with God, we just cannot see things clearly. All we see are just blur and distorted images! We can easily allow neglect and apathy to come and destroy our aerials. Soon we don't even know what is real. But the Word of God can give us a clear picture of who God is and what His purposes are. Jesus is the one who can open up our eyes to see through the Holy Spirit.
So choose to get in touch with God. Set your aerials aright and see things as you should or have never seen before! Be Thou my vision!
